• Re: Vertical Ventilation

My department leaves it to Captains to decide how they will vent. we have alot of sogs. But it all really comes down to how do you want to get the job done. As a CO or Captain or Lt you gotta be up on your studies and be able to make the call. position 1 and 2? I dont have clue but I do have a set idea in my mind how and when my crew ...

I agree with Johnny on this. If I can get in and search I will. I am a big fan of VES Vent Enter Search. We can usually look at any house and tell where a Bedroom is. Throw a ladder get in andcheck out the room. If you cant get in and do a complete Primary fast and safley ...Try VES. 2 in 2 out. I agree if you think someone is inside you ...

Good Stuff! You guys do it alot like we do. I have seen some studys like what you have here. I am sold on it. I think alot of Depts could benefit alot from learning how to do this. The science is there to support it. Respectfully, AKdude

Firedude, That is something I never thought about! We dont have Lightining like you folks do down south up here in Alaska. I hate putting guys on the roof on residential fires for a few reasons. Lightwieght construction, Heavy Snow loads can hide soft spots and make it slippery and dangerous up there. And most of all we can almost always vent ...

  • Re: Positive Pressure Attack

CO is actually a problem we set our fans out front like everyone else does. We even have exhaust extensions on our fans so that co is redirected. Go ahead and do a test. Take your CO monitor and fire up a fan in your Bays at the fire house. Do everything like you would on a fire and it still pumps extra co into a house. I aint makeing it up. ...

  • Re: Positive Pressure Attack

We use PPV fans on almost all of our residential fires. A cordnated attack is a must. Before a fan you gotta vent the fire and have a crew ready to go in with a line as soon as the fan is fired up. Watching what the smoke does is also just as important. A messed up fan operation can really make a bread and butter fire go bad fast. I saw a great ...

Rule with an IRON FIST! Find the innocent and assign blame! You will really affect the environment that way! Swear alot and call everyone by a nick name that you picked out. Like Knuckle Head, Little Buddy, or Short Hose. It is always fun to assign lame tasks like, Rotateing the hose beds or station inventory even when it ...
